This document will provide JBoss 4 release notes for all operating systems offered by eApps. Please see the section specific to the operating system of your subscription. To get the operating system of your subscription take the steps below.

Log into your Control Panel > click My Account tab > Subscriptions > click the Name of the subscription (with type Virtuozzo Container)> the operating system is listed on the Server section of the page.


CentOS 5
The latest version available on CentOS 5 plans is 4.2.3

How to upgrade

- Log into your Control Panel > Click System Tab > All Applications > JBoss-4 > Upgrade To Latest

When you upgrade to the new version, it will create a new /opt/jboss4/server directory while moving the old /opt/jboss4/server directory to one called /opt/jboss4/server.backup.{date-stamp}. To preserve your old setup, you will have to move your application files, including any libs not included with JBoss into the new /opt/jboss4/server directory.

CentOS 4
The latest version available on CentOS 4 plans is 4.2.1. To take advantage of the most current version, customers are encouraged to migrate to a CentOS 5 plan. For migration details please send a request to support@eapps.com.

  • INSTALLING – If you are not currently running any version of JBoss, please use the following instructions.

    1. Login to your Control Panel and go to the System Tab.
    2. Click on Add Application and install JBoss 4.2.1

  • UPGRADING From JBoss 4.0.5 EJB3 - If you are upgrading to JBoss 4.2.1 from the prior version of JBoss 4.0.5 EJB3, follow the steps below (these instructions are only valid with the 4.0.5 EJB3 version!).
    1. Backup your application and configuration files, including server.xml
    2. Login to your Control Panel and go to the System Tab
    3. Click on Upgrade Applications and verify that you have the older version of JBoss 4.0.5 EJB 3 installed.
    4. Then select version 4.2.1 from the drop-down box and click Upgrade. (Contact support@eapps.com if you do not see this version in your control panel)
    5. When you install the new version, it will create a new /opt/jboss4/server directory while moving the old /opt/jboss4/server directory to one called /opt/jboss4/server.backup.{date-stamp}. To preserve your old setup, you will have to move your application files, including any libs not included with JBoss into the new /opt/jboss4/server directory.
    6. Move your server.xml file into the new /opt/jbossx/server/default/deploy/jboss-web.deployer directory. The old directory called /opt/jbossx/server/default/deploy/jbossweb-tomcat55.sar is no longer valid.
  • UPGRADING From JBoss 4.0.5 (EJB2) version or older versions of JBoss - If you are upgrading to JBoss 4.2.1 from the prior version of JBoss 4.0.5 EJB2 or any version prior to JBoss 4.2.1, follow the steps below.
    1. Backup your application and configuration files, including server.xml
    2. Login to your Control Panel and go to the System Tab
    3. Click on All Applications
    4. Click on your existing JBoss application and uninstall it
    5. Now click on Add Application and select JBoss 4.2.1 and click install
    6. After JBoss installs you will have to redeploy your application. Please refer to the JBoss 4 User Guide at http://support.eapps.com/hsp/jboss4
