Release Notes - PHP 5

This Document will provide PHP 5 release notes for all operating systems offered by eApps. Please see the section specific to the operating system of your subscription. To get the operating system of your subscription take the steps below.

Log into your Control Panel > click My Account tab > Subscriptions > click the Name of the subscription (with type Virtuozzo Container)> the operating system is listed on the Server section of the page.

General Release Notes
In addition to the changes made by the developers of PHP 5 has been adapted by the application development team at eApps to be more secure than ever. The /etc/php.ini file has been updated to prevent the execution of several potentially dangerous functions, that in the past have presented a vulnerability from a security standpoint.

CentOS 5
The latest version available on CentOS 5 plans is 5.2.17

Centos 4
The latest version available on CentOS 5 plans is 5.2.0

  • UPGRADING - To upgrade to the new version from prior versions, please use the following instructions.
    1. Login to your Control Panel and go to the System Tab
    2. If you are upgrading from a previous version of PHP 5, you can proceed by clicking Upgrade Applications under All Applications. You may then skip steps 3-5. However, if you are upgrading from PHP 4, go to step 3.
    3. Click on All Applications and uninstall the existing version of PHP 4
    4. Click on Add Application and install PHP 5.2.0
    5. Click on Add Applications and install any PHP5 compatible applications that you need. 
Fedora Core
PHP 5 is not available on Fedora Core plans. To take advantage of the most current version, customers are encouraged to migrate to a CentOS 5 plan. For migration details please send a request to support@eapps.com.
