This User Guide explains how to access the Spam Experts web interface as a mail (non-administrative) user. This User Guide assumes that your domains are already configured to use Spam Experts, and that your e-mail address is correctly set up in the Virtual Server. |
Information on how to access Spam Experts as an Admin user and how to add your domains to the Spam Experts system are found here - http://support.eapps.com/ispmgr/spamexperts-admin
SolarWinds Spam Experts is an anti-spam and anti-virus system available to eApps customers using the Virtual Server in the Cloud plans. Spam Experts works by using a globally de-centralized network that scans e-mail messages to find and detect new spam and virus threats, and then uses that information to update locally hosted Spam Experts servers, such as the one at eApps.
Spam Experts is billed per Virtual Server, with the first five domains in each Virtual Server free. Each additional domain is billed at a rate of $1.00 per month.

After your domain has been configured to use Spam Experts, your e-mail will start to go through the Spam Experts system to be filtered for spam and viruses before it is delivered to your inbox. Spam Experts also provides a web interface to their system, so that you can see your e-mail quarantine, and also configure a spam report to be sent to your e-mail address.
You can log in to the Spam Experts web interface at http://eapps-spx01.vm.eapps.com/
Username/domain/email - enter your e-mail address
Password - enter your Spam Experts password
If this is your first time logging in to Spam Experts, click on the Retrieve log-in link. This will take you to a Password recovery screen.
Enter your e-mail address, and click Submit. This will send a password reset link to your e-mail address. Be aware that this link will only be valid for 15 minutes. If that time elapses, you will have to go back and generate a new link.
Click on the password reset link in the e-mail sent from Spam Experts. The subject of the e-mail will be Temporary link to change your password.
This takes you to a screen where you can enter your e-mail address and a temporary password - you will be forced to change this password on the next screen.
This will log you in to Spam Experts, and you will have to enter the temporary password you just created, and then create a new password.
Click Save, and this will log you in to the Spam Experts web interface.
If you lose or forget your password, you can also use the Retrieve log-in link to reset your password |
When you log in to Spam Experts, you are taken to the main Dashboard screen.
The Dashboard screen has sections for Incoming, Protection report,Whitelist/Blacklist, and My Account.
The Incoming section is where you can view the logs to see the disposition of any e-mail received, see the spam quarantine and delivery queue, and report spam.
Log search
The Log search allows you to view the previous 28 days worth of mail logs. You can search for specific messages, or see an overview of the delivery status of all messages. There are several available search parameters that you can use to fine tune your search, such as the Date range, Sender, and the Sender host.
Spam quarantine
In the Spam quarantine, you can see all e-mail messages that were marked as spam by the Spam Experts system. You can click on the Subject to safely view the message, or deliver or delete the message in the Action section. You can also search by Subject, Sender, or Recipient.
Incoming Delivery queue
If for some reason the destination server for the e-mail is not available, Spam Experts will hold the mail in the Delivery queue until it can be delivered. From the Delivery queue, you can retry to deliver all messages, or just selected messages. You can also check the Retry time to see when Spam Experts will attempt to deliver the message again.
Report Spam
You can upload any spam messages that make it past the Spam Experts filters to help train the program to be better at catching spam. The file must be in .eml format, which is supported by Outlook and Thunderbird.
If you have downloaded the spam message to your desktop in .eml format, you can then click on Report Spam and drag and drop the file, or you can upload the file.
There are also add-ons available from Spam Experts for Outlook, Thunderbird, and Apple Mail. Please see the documentation for each add-on for instructions on installation and usage.
If your e-mail client is not officially supported, you can report spam by forwarding the spam e-mails as an attachment to spamreport@spamrl.com. All e-mails forwarded in .eml format to that address will be processed by the Spam Experts system.
If you are using IMAP, there are also instructions to set up Outlook and Thunderbird to report spam to Spam Experts. Please see the documentation for each mail client for instructions on installation and usage.
Report Not Spam
You can upload any messages that were tagged as spam but are not spam to help train the program that these are legitimate. The file must be in .eml format, which is supported by Outlook and Thunderbird.
If you have downloaded the spam message to your desktop in .eml format, you can then click on Report Not Spam and drag and drop the file, or you can upload the file.
Periodic user report
The Periodic user report allows you to set up a report that can be sent to any e-mail address. This report can be run on a daily or weekly basis, and is sent in either HTML or PDF format. The report can be set up to be sent to multiple recipients. Click on the Periodic user report icon, and then click on Add recipient to set up the report.
Sender whitelist
The Sender Whitelist are e-mail addresses or domains that you configure to bypass the normal spam filters. Any e-mail from these e-mail addresses or domains will always get delivered to your Inbox.
Recipient whitelist
By default, the recipient (your e-mail address) is "Unwhitelisted", meaning that all incoming e-mail goes through the spam filters. You can also set this to "Whitelisted", meaning that all e-mail bypasses all spam filters. However, this should only be done with the understanding that you will no longer have any spam protection.
Sender blacklist
The Sender blacklist are e-mail addresses or domains that you configure to always be blocked at the spam filters. Any e-mail from these e-mail addresses or domains will always get directed to spam quarantine.
User's profile
The User's profile is where you can change your Spam Experts password, and also set up Two Step Authentication.
